Consent and Safety

Consent, verified adulthood and privacy are essential to responsible amateur adult media. Whether you are viewing content or considering contributing, take time to understand permissions, protect personal information and recognise when something needs reporting.

Informed consent

Consent must be freely given, informed and specific. Everyone involved must understand what they are agreeing to and be able to decide without pressure, threats or impairment.

Agreeing to an activity, being recorded and allowing publication are separate decisions. Previous participation does not establish permission for another recording. Silence is not agreement. Anyone can withdraw consent to participation; recording should stop immediately. RAINN’s consent guidance explains these principles.

Contributor rights and permissions

Before contributing, ask for clear written terms covering where content will appear, editing, promotional use, redistribution and any payment arrangements. Keep copies of agreements and relevant messages.

Discuss boundaries, identity protection and the process for withdrawing publication permission or requesting removal before recording. Do not assume a removal request will erase copies already shared elsewhere. The Dutch Data Protection Authority’s guidance on unwanted publication outlines possible steps when someone publishes identifiable images without permission.

Age verification and personal privacy

Every contributor must be verified as at least 18 when adult material is created. Appearance, a profile description or an “18+” label cannot establish age. Age verification also cannot establish consent.

Before providing identification, check who receives it, why it is needed, how it is protected and how long it will be retained. Use an official verification process rather than sending documents through private messages.

Safer browsing and account use

Use unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication where available. Check website addresses before signing in or paying, and avoid unexpected downloads.

Protect contributors’ privacy: do not expose their real names, workplaces or locations, or redistribute intimate material without permission.

Reporting unauthorized intimate content

If your intimate content appears without permission:

  1. Record page URLs, account names, dates and threatening messages.
  2. Report it through the hosting platform’s privacy or intimate-image abuse channel and request removal.
  3. Keep report reference numbers for follow-up. Contact local police if you face threats, blackmail or immediate danger.

For eligible adults who were also adults when the images were taken, StopNCII.org creates digital fingerprints on your device to help participating platforms detect unauthorized sharing. Your images remain on your device; the service cannot remove content from the entire internet.

If material may depict someone under 18, do not download or forward it. Report its location through the platform’s child-safety channel and to an official child-protection reporting service or local police.
